The fury of Rend began in 2001 when Charlie Carpenter and Byron Gilmore connected through a local newspaper ad in Austin, TX. The original lineup played for years as a 3 piece before teaming up with Shon Young to help fill out the heavy sound that they were going for. When their bass player left the band in 2007, Rend was quick to enlist the talents of their good friend Adrian Garcia, who played in another local Austin band, to complete the brotherhood.
Over the past 7 years Rend has played hundreds of shows throughout Texas. Playing live is what this band is all about. When not sharing the stage with bands such as Goatwhore, Mushroomhead, Within Chaos, Oblige, and countless others, Rend is a consistent headlining act. Having been featured on the Texas Metal Edge Vol.4 Compilation CD in 2006, Rend currently have their song "Puncture" being played on No Control with Chuck Loesch , a weekly metal show on Austins rock station 101X, and have played the 101X Homegrown Live concert series.
After releasing a 3 song demo in early 2006, Rend has quickly built a solid fanbase. Now with the 2008 release of their debut cd "Serpentine Conquest", which contains the radio single "Puncture", Rend has its goals set on touring throughout the U.S. and beyond.
